Hello friends, If you or someone in your family is studying in class 10th, then this news is very important for you. CBSE has recently taken a decision that will reduce the tension of lakhs of students. Now from 2026, the 10th board exam will be held twice a year! Yes, not one but two chances will be available, which will give students a better opportunity to improve their performance. Let us understand every aspect of this decision in detail.
How will the students benefit from the exam twice?
Keeping in mind the convenience of the students, CBSE has approved the conduct of 10th board exams twice a year from 2026. Under this, the first exam will be held from 17 February to 6 March, while the second will be held from 5 May to 20 May. The biggest advantage of this change will be that the pressure of board exams on the students will be reduced. Earlier, if a student was not able to perform well on a single chance, then he had to live with that result for his whole life. But now, if the marks are low in the first exam, then there will be a chance to improve in the second exam.
Students and teachers welcomed the decision
This new rule has been welcomed by both schools and students. Sudha Acharya, Principal of ITL International School, Dwarka, says that this is a ‘student-friendly’ decision, which will reduce the stress of the exam. Giving an example, she said that if a student takes difficult mathematics (standard math) in the first exam and finds it difficult, then he can pass by taking basic math in the second exam. A student also expressed happiness and said, “Now if the marks are low in the first exam, then there will be a second chance. This will reduce stress and increase confidence.”
What will be the challenges?
- Although this decision is beneficial for the students, it can also pose some challenges for teachers and exam-conducting agencies.
- Conducting the exam twice will increase the additional workload on schools and teachers.
- The exam dates will have to be managed in such a way that the rest of the academic activities are not hampered.
- Students will also have to take the strategy of the exam in the right way so that they can take full advantage of both opportunities.
Big opportunity for students
This decision of CBSE is a big step taken keeping in mind the future of the students. This change will allow them to improve their abilities and take the exam without stress. According to the Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020), it is necessary to make the examination system more flexible and stress-free and this step is a big effort in that direction.
