Canara Bank is one of India’s oldest and most trusted public sector banks. With branches across the country, it has been instrumental in delivering financial services to millions. In recent years, especially in the post-pandemic era, banks have been leaning more on apprenticeship programmes to groom homegrown talent and give youth a footing in the banking sector.
Apprenticeship Act, 1961 & Banking Sector Trends
The Apprenticeship Act, 1961 provides legal backing to structured on-the-job training in various industries, including banking. Under this act, organizations can engage apprentices and train them, paying a stipend, without classifying them as permanent employees. In the banking space, this approach is increasingly being adopted to harness fresh talent without immediate permanent obligations.
