In the hills and valleys of Meghalaya, a wave of joy and pride swept across schools, homes, and communities as the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) declared the SSLC 2025 results. It was not just any result day—it was a celebration of dreams realized, hard work rewarded, and a promise for a brighter future. Two bright stars, Leisha Agarwal from St. Margaret’s Higher Secondary School in Shillong and Avila Kathrene P Lyngdoh from North Liberty Higher Secondary School in Jowai stole the spotlight by topping the SSLC examinations with an outstanding score of 582 out of 600. Their achievement is more than a personal milestone it is a powerful message to every student that with dedication, anything is possible.
A Journey of Hard Work and Heart
For Leisha and Avila, this achievement was the result of months of discipline, consistency, and emotional strength. Leisha shared her heartfelt gratitude, saying, “I am truly humbled and grateful to God, my family, and my teachers. The support I received was unwavering, and I hope this achievement inspires others to believe in themselves.” Her principal described her as a determined and disciplined student whose success has brought immense pride to the school.
Avila’s journey was equally inspiring. Hailing from Jowai, she credited her success to steady efforts and the constant encouragement of her family and school community. “Hard work with consistency pays off,” she said, adding how grateful she is to her parents, teachers, and friends. Her principal praised her focus and sincerity, calling her a student who always aimed high.
A New Chapter for Education in Meghalaya
This year’s SSLC results marked a turning point for education in the state. With a dramatic leap in the overall pass percentage to 87.10% from last year’s 55.80%, the performance of Meghalaya’s Class 10 students has set a new benchmark. A total of 63,682 students appeared for the exams, significantly higher than the previous year’s 54,134. The removal of the Selection Test opened doors for many more students to participate, making education more inclusive and accessible. Among the successful candidates, girls once again outshined boys, continuing a trend of rising female academic achievement in the state.
Celebrating the Spirit of Young Achievers
The excitement didn’t end with the top two ranks. Evanshan Nongrum and Pori Panday secured the second rank with 578 marks, while Anushmita Choudhury, Sourav Pandey, and Eulogemene Rilin L Suting shared the third spot with 576 marks each. These students, from diverse schools and regions, proved that excellence is not limited by location. One of the most heartening developments this year was the rise in schools achieving 100% pass results, which more than doubled from 180 last year to 341. This growth reflects not only the students’ efforts but also the commitment of teachers, school heads, and the education system as a whole.
Empowering Students Through Reforms and Innovation
Officials credited the success to several strategic changes, including the introduction of a revised question pattern, the Chief Minister’s IMPACT Guidebook, and better coordination between schools, district administrations, and the education department. The availability of quality preparatory material, especially for students in rural areas, helped level the playing field and empowered more students to perform confidently. In another student-friendly move, MBOSE has introduced a Supplementary Examination to be held within the same academic year. This ensures that students who may not have cleared a subject won’t have to wait a full year to try again a decision that shows compassion and practical foresight.
A Message of Hope and Encouragement
The Governor of Meghalaya, C.H. Vijayashankar, congratulated all the students, calling their achievements a shining example of resilience and determination. Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma also shared his pride and admiration for the students, reminding those who didn’t make it this time not to lose hope. “You’ve taken a bold step forward, and you’ll have more chances to shine,” he said.
Indeed, the SSLC 2025 results are more than just numbers they tell stories of perseverance, community support, educational reform, and the unstoppable spirit of Meghalaya’s youth.
