However, the already announced eligibility criteria include nationality, age, academic degrees, and the minimum passing marks in the entrance exam.

1. Age Limit

Minimum age requirement
According to NTA, students must be 17 when applying for the paper or reach that age on or before December 31 of the year they are admitted to the first year of the UMC (Undergraduate Medical Course). This clarifies that a candidate born on or before December 31, 2006, meets the age requirement for the exam.

Maximum age requirement
In 2025, there is no maximum age limit. However, previously, the age limit was 25 years (30 years for special students). But now NMC has removed that limit.
2. Educational Qualification
- If you have cleared your intermediate qualifying exam, you can apply for NEET 2025.
- Students who have passed Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology, and English papers in the 12th class are eligible to apply.
- Class 12 is the main qualifying stage for the NEET exam. However, the required marks differ based on the students’ category.
- Students must ensure that they fill out the online application form using the correct NEET Qualifying Examination Code.
3. Nationality Requirements
Indian Nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), and Foreign Nationals can appear in the NEET (UG) 2025 exam.
However, NRI/ Foreign Students must have fulfilled the following requirements for NEET 2025.
- Overseas students looking to appear in the NEET paper must have a passing grade of 12th class in Chemistry, Physics, English, and Biology/Biotechnology with a minimum of 50 percent numbers.
- The students of the International Baccalaureate (IB), GCSE, or Advanced Placement (AP) curriculum in the 12th class can also apply.
- The Indian IB students can appear in the paper.
- International students must check the state’s medical or dental schools before applying.
4. Number of Attempts
Students can pass out their NEET papers multiple times within other eligibility criteria. In the past, there were specific attempts for the papers; however, in 2018, that limit was removed, and paper 2025 also followed the same pattern of no attempt restriction.
5. Qualifying Marks
- The General/GEN-EWS category students must obtain 50% marks.
- OBC/SC/ST category mentioned 40% marks eligibility criteria.
- The disabilities quota must secure 40% marks.
6. Qualifying Exam Codes
Those who want to appear in the NEET 2025 exam must select one qualifying exam code from these sevens;
- Code 01: Those who are waiting for their intermediate result in 2025 need to select this code. However, candidates must have passed their intermediate by the time of admission. Otherwise, they are not allowed to apply.
- Code 02: This code is for those with higher/senior secondary examinations or the ISCE (Indian School Certificate Examination) result cards equivalent to intermediate. However, NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training) mentioned that these students must also have science subjects, including physics, chemistry, biology/ biotechnology, and mathematics, in their courses. However, students of any other optional subject with English as a compulsory subject can also apply for the NEET paper.
- Code 03: The students who received their intermediate or equivalent degree with a science subject or any other optional subject with English as a compulsory subject from a recognized Indian institution are categorized in code 03.
- Code 04: Aspirants who have passed a Pre-professional/ Pre-medical Examination after intermediate with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Biotechnology, and English as a main subject need to select this code.
- Code 05: Candidates enrolled in a three-year degree course with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology as the main subjects from a reputable university must select this code. It is important to note that the qualifying exam must be a university exam.
- Code 06: This code is for those who passed their BSC degree from a reputable Indian University with at least two subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology), or biotechnology.
- Code 09: Students who have completed courses equivalent to intermediate, including Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology, from an Indian Board of Education or University must select this code.
