Cement can be classified into two major types:
- Natural cement
- Artificial cement
Natural Cement
The cement produced by calcining and pulversing natural rocks consisting of clay limestone is know as natural cement.
It possesses a brown colour and sets rapidly when mixed with water.
Natural cement does not possess sufficient strength.
Artificial Cement
It is prepared using different varieties of compounds.
It may be special cement or Portland cement.
A cement of more quick-setting nature and much greater strength is know as artificial cement.
