Hello friends, Nowadays a big debate has started regarding education policy and language. Especially, the questions raised by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin have further intensified this discussion. Is the National Education Policy (NEP) imposing any language on anyone? Or is it just a political controversy? On this issue, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan openly expressed his opinion in the India TV Speed News Education Conclave and tried to clear all the misconceptions. Let’s know the truth of this whole matter.
The National Education Policy imposes Hindi on anyone
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, while answering this question, made it clear that there is no provision for imposing Hindi in the National Education Policy. He said that this controversy is just a fantasy, that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is fueling for politics. Pradhan also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always emphasized promoting his mother tongue, not imposing any other language. Citing examples, he said that many countries like Japan, China and Israel are promoting innovation and research by providing education in their mother tongue.
The government’s initiative to promote the Tamil language
Prime Minister Modi’s government has taken several important steps to promote the Tamil language. Dharmendra Pradhan underlined that PM Modi is the first Prime Minister to promote the Tamil language in Singapore. Apart from this, the government organized programs like Kashi-Tamil Sangam to promote the Tamil language and culture in the country. He said that Tamil is one of the oldest languages in India and it should be respected. He took a dig at Stalin’s politics of language controversy and said that he was living in a different world and was raising this issue only to hide his political failures.
An important discussion on education
This entire controversy was raised at the India TV Speed News Education Conclave, which was an important event focused on education policies and their future. The main objective of this education conference was to strengthen India’s education system and make it more accessible, transparent and effective. Policymakers, educationists, vice-chancellors of universities and officials of prestigious institutions like UGC, AICTE, NTA, NCERT, IITs and IIMs attended this program. During this, important topics like the increasing trend of Indian students studying abroad, the role of coaching institutes and the impact of education policies on the future were discussed.
Need to focus on education beyond politics
India is a multilingual country and all languages should be respected here. The purpose of the new education policy is also that every student should get the opportunity to study in his mother tongue, and not impose any language on anyone. In such a situation, politics over language is just a way to divert attention from the real issues of education.
