Age is Just a Number: 52 Year Old Pankaj Bhatia Cracks UGC NET with 99.9 Percentile

Pankaj Bhatia cycles to Hesarghatta Lake twice a week. But during this time, no song or podcast is playing in his ears, rather he is studying commerce! The result of this passion is that he scored 99.9 percentile in the UGC NET December exam. When the results were declared on Saturday, it proved that age is just a number. His passion for education took him to this point. But this was not the first time he achieved something big. After doing a Masters in Commerce from Delhi School of Economics, he did CA, CS, CPA, CMA, and Advanced Diploma from IIM Kolkata. Not only this, he also did an LLB from Delhi University.

A unique balance of work, family and studies

You must be wondering how he manages so many things. Pankaj himself answers this – “I do multi-tasking. This is the way I can balance my job, family and studies.” He said that he prepared through the EdTech program and studied in his free time. Be it a morning run or cycling, he used to listen to online classes with headphones. This habit became the secret of his success.

Journey from an average school student to an education lover

Pankaj Bhatia says that he was not a very good student during his school days. But with time he realized that he could go further in his studies. This thought kept motivating him to continuously do new degree courses. Now, after qualifying for UGC NET, his next dream is to do PhD in Corporate Governance.

Dream of going to college with daughter

Pankaj Bhatia jokingly says that if everything goes well, he will be admitted to the same college with his daughter. His daughter is studying engineering, while his son is doing masters in Canada. Not only studies, but Pankaj Bhatia is also ahead in social service. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he worked with a citizen group called Relief Riders to deliver medicines to the needy by bicycle. Pankaj Bhatia’s story teaches us that there is no age to learn. If there is passion in the heart, then age cannot be a barrier. If you also want to learn something new, then start now!
