For many families, this day marks the culmination of a year full of hard work, dedication, and dreams. And for some districts, it’s a time to celebrate achievements that reflect the efforts of not just students, but teachers and schools as well.

Amritsar Tops the Charts with Outstanding Performance

This year, Amritsar district has proudly secured the top position in the state, emerging as the best-performing district with an impressive pass percentage of 98.85%. This result not only reflects academic excellence but also showcases the district’s strong educational commitment. Following Amritsar, Pathankot took the second position, while Gurdaspur claimed the third spot. Other districts that secured positions in the top ten include Kapurthala, Ferozepur, SBS Nagar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Faridkot, and Mansa. These districts stood out for their dedication to quality education and consistent support for their students.

Mohali Falls Short of Expectations

In a surprising turn of events, Mohali the home of the PSEB headquarters did not manage to secure a place in the top ten. Instead, it ranked 11th with a pass percentage of 97.63%. While the performance is still commendable, it has sparked discussions and reflections within the district’s education community. Despite the district’s overall ranking, some heartwarming success stories emerged. Samriti Verma, a student from the government school in Karkaur village, Dera Bassi, made her district proud by securing the 43rd rank in the state. She was followed by Chandan Mohan Giri from Jandpur village with the 109th rank, and Amanpreet Kaur from Siaon village with the 216th rank. The fourth place in the district went to Sutej, a student of Mount View Public School in Baltana, who achieved the 221st rank. What truly stands out is that three out of these four top-ranking students in Mohali come from government schools, proving that public education is making meaningful strides in academic excellence.

Girls Outshine Boys Across the State

One of the most inspiring highlights of this year’s results is the performance of female students. With a pass percentage of 98.9%, girls have outperformed boys, who achieved a pass rate of 96.49%. This is a powerful reminder of the determination and potential of young girls across Punjab, many of whom are overcoming social and economic challenges to reach academic milestones.

A Remarkable Achievement by Transgender Students

In a truly uplifting development, all nine transgender students who appeared for the Class 8 exams passed, marking a 100% pass rate among this group. Their success is not just an academic victory but a symbol of hope, equality, and inclusion in the education system. It reflects the growing recognition and support for transgender students in Punjab’s schools.

Statewide Pass Percentage Sees a Slight Dip

While individual stories of excellence shine bright, the overall pass percentage across Punjab has slightly declined compared to last year. In 2024, the overall pass rate stood at 98.31%, whereas this year it dropped to 97.30%. Although the drop is minimal, it has encouraged educators and administrators to take a closer look at how they can provide better learning environments and support systems in the coming academic year.
