Hello friends, Today we are going to talk about a big scam that shook the politics and administration of Chhattisgarh the Nagrik Apurti Nigam (NAN) scam. In this case, former Advocate General of Chhattisgarh Satish Chandra Verma has got anticipatory bail from the Supreme Court. The case was heard in the Supreme Court on Friday.
What is the whole matter?
The case was heard in the Supreme Court on Friday, where a bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta ruled that Verma would have to cooperate in the investigation. This decision has come as a big relief for him because earlier the Chhattisgarh High Court had rejected his anticipatory bail plea. The roots of this entire scam are linked to the alleged corruption in the Nagrik Apurti Nigam (NAN). In this scam, a case of supply of low-quality rice, gram, salt etc. came to light, in which many big officials and bureaucrats were arrested. The allegation against Satish Chandra Verma is that he helped the main accused of the scam, Anil Tuteja and Alok Shukla, get bail. A case was registered against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for this.
What happened in the Supreme Court?
When the hearing took place in the Supreme Court, senior advocates Vivek Tankha and Sumir Sodhi argued on behalf of Verma that the allegations levelled against him had no legal basis and the High Court wrongly assumed that his custodial interrogation was necessary. On the other hand, senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, on behalf of the Chhattisgarh government, opposed the bail and said that there is sufficient evidence against Verma. However, earlier the Chhattisgarh government had assured the Supreme Court that it would not take any punitive action against Verma.
What will happen next?
In the Nagrik Apurti Nigam scam, the Supreme Court has directed Verma to fully cooperate in the investigation. However, this case is still not completely over and further legal proceedings will continue. Now it will be interesting to see what other legal avenues the other accused involved in this scam take in the coming days. This case is not just a legal battle, but it also reflects administrative corruption and the power of the justice system. Verma has received relief from this decision of the Supreme Court, but it remains to be seen what action will be taken against the truth related to the scam and the big names involved in it.
